Hey everybody — Pete Macedo, candidate for mayor and owner of Blacksburg Bagels. Your neighbor, as always. It is really cold out, and usually I do these videos outside because it’s nice and peaceful and wonderful… but this is Blacksburg — this is windy, and this is how it is.
So, the recount update is that we had our preliminary hearing on Wednesday [November 26], and we set the date and we set the process for everything that’s going to be happening.
The recount will be happening December 12th of 2025, and by the end of the day we should have an answer as to who got the most votes for the election.
I want everybody to know that we are asking for contributions to our campaign fund so that we can cover the legal cost of this process. And I want you to also know that we are going to be creating documentation of everything through this process so that anyone who is going through this in the future can make good decisions and know what they can or cannot do — what they should or shouldn’t do.
This is something that we want to make available to everybody who’s running, particularly if you are not part of a political party.
Because the political parties have these resources — they have this institutional knowledge. And if you’re running as an independent, you do not have that. So we want to make sure that this is fair.
And by doing that — by sharing all this information to those in our community who want to run for office, who want to run as independent, and want to be successful — when you’re making a contribution to our campaign, please know that you are also making a contribution to future campaigns, so that they can make good decisions, be informed, and focus on meeting your community members, and for you to be able to meet them.
See you next time.
