Hey everybody — Pete Macedo, candidate for mayor and your neighbor as always — giving you an update on the recount.
We’ve been put in touch with a gentleman who can help us with the legal side of the recount, and I assure you — from everything we’ve heard from everyone — it is essential that we have legal representation in this process.
Because of the expense of this, we are going to be reopening our donation site for the campaign.
I have been struggling so much with the need to spend more money on this aspect of our campaign, because this is not the time of year when we should be spending money on procedural things. We should be supporting one another, feeding one another, caring for one another, and keeping people warm.
And so any money that we have left over in our campaign account after this recount process — no matter how it goes — is going to be donated to organizations that support those who really need it.
This has been a real struggle for me. The expense behind this has really torn me apart, because I’m a baker. I’m your neighbor. I’m here to support my community.
And it’s so hard for me to even think that I’m taking resources away from those who really need them, just so we can count some ballots again.
But it’s important to me that your voice is heard, and that this process is done correctly — and I truly believe the only way to do that is with legal support.
So please consider making a contribution to the account, and please understand we will make sure that no money is spent unnecessarily, and that everything else we receive is going to be donated back to our community.
I’ll see you soon.
